We know there’s lots to consider when bringing your little one to nursery for the first time, and our goal is to make sure you have full peace of mind and feel as comfortable as they do.
Below, we’ve shared more information on what to bring for their first day, and highlighted some of our policies and procedures.
Each child should have sufficient clothing for their daily needs, as well as spare clothes in case an accident happens.
Please also bring suitable outdoor clothing, as we encourage children to learn and play outdoors.
They’ll need sunhats in the summer months, and Wellington boots, gloves, and hats during the winter.
Please remember to clearly label all of your child’s clothing and footwear with their name.
We do ask parents to make sure children don’t bring valuable items into the nursery, as we cannot accept responsibility for any subsequent loss or damage.

Only medicines prescribed by a doctor may be brought into the nursery. These must have the prescription label clearly visible and be in the original container.
Medication must be handed to a member of staff , who will complete a medication form on FAMLY, then ask you to acknowledge this before medication can be administered.
Life-saving medication must be accompanied by a completed care form.
At Littleworld Day Nurseries, the well-being of children, families, and staff is always our top priority.
All management staff are qualified First Aiders for Mental Health and are trained to recognise signs of stress, anxiety, and poor mental health, helping us to create a supportive and caring environment.
We also ensure all staff understand safeguarding responsibilities and feel confident in recognising and reporting concerns that may affect the well-being of children and families.
We know that all children experience a wide range of emotions as they grow and learn. Our team gently supports children in recognising and understanding these feelings, helping them build confidence, resilience, and self-regulation skills over time.
Despite comprehensive risk analysis and every effort being made to remove hazards, we know that accidents can happen.
When they do, we are diligent in recording them and reporting back to parents or carers, who will be asked to acknowledge and sign an accident on our online platform FAMLY.
Where an accident is serious, we will contact the parent or carer to advise them of what has happened and what action is being taken. Where necessary, we will contact the emergency services.
Accidents that occur at home will also be recorded in an accident report at the nursery using FAMLY. Parents and carers are asked to share information on the accident and then to acknowledge and sign it once a member of staff has created the report.
We believe that children learn best through free-flow play, both indoors and outdoors, so we’ve designed our environments to provide safe and stimulating spaces that are always evolving.
We love to encourage discussion in our nurseries, and we’re always looking at ways to provide fun new experiences based on children’s interests, home environments, and cultures.
